Two In Custody Following Vehicle Stop
Burns Lake, B.C. – Two Burns Lake males face a string of charges following a vehicle stop on the long weekend.
RCMP say Members of the Fraser Lake detachment were on patrol along Highway 16 near Holy Cross Forest Service Road on Saturday when they spotted a vehicle that was traveling well under the posted speed limit.
As the police couldn’t see any obvious reason for the vehicle’s slow speed, they had the driver pull over.
Once the vehicle was stopped, police observed evidence to suspect that the driver was impaired by alcohol. As police conducted an investigation of impaired driving, information was received from the Burns Lake RCMP of a recent stolen vehicle from their area. The description that was provided matched that of the vehicle that was currently stopped by the Fraser Lake RCMP.
During a search of the vehicle police found property which they believe to be stolen as well as a substantial amount of drugs. Psilocybin, commonly referred to as Magic Mushrooms as well as Marijuana were located inside the vehicle.
2 Burns Lake residents were arrested for the Possession of stolen property, Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and breaching conditions of a recognizance.
The Driver also received a 90 day IRP driving prohibition.
Both males were held in police custody and are scheduled to appear in Prince George Provincial Court on Tuesday August 9th. The police continue their investigation
