Homes Threatened as Elephant Hill Fire Gains Momentum
Prince George, B.C. – The Thompson-Nicola Regional District has issued an Evacuation Order after the massive Elephant Hill fire which originated in the Cache Creek area gained momentum today.
The order, effective at noon today, is for the Bonaparte and Criss Creek areas which are well east of Look Lake and north of Savona. The TNRD says the rapidly moving fire located in Electoral Areas “E”, “J” and “O” continues to threaten numerous properties north of Savona in the vicinity of Copper Creek, Red Lake and Tranquille-Criss Creek Road.
Resident requiring support services are being directed to the Sandman Centre at 300 Lorne Street in Kamloops. Those with large animals/livestock in need of shelter at to contact the regional district at 1-866-377-7188.

The further this fire burns away from where it actually started, it is being forgotten where it actually started. It started on the Ashcroft reserve near the train tracks along the Thompson River.

I suspect the fire was re-named so the conflagration was not associated with the area it was originally named for.
I hear that investigators have determined the fire was human caused, and they have ruled out trains as the cause, but that is apparently all they know for sure.
