Travel Advisory for Highway 16 East – Updated
Prince George, B.C. – The BC Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure has issued a travel advisory for motorists travelling along Highway 16 east to the Alberta border.
The provincial ministry advises there is limited visibility due to smoke from Crescent Spur to the BC/Alberta border, a distance of 190 kilometres.
Motorists are advised to slow down, drive with caution and with head lights and tail lights turned on. Also, keep an eye out for animals which may be near or crossing the highway.
250 News reporter Greg Fry contacted us from Hinton shortly after 12 noon and said he had “white knuckled it” just shy of the border as he drove east on Highway 16. He said in many sections he could only see the paint lines on the road, adding “I’ve never seen it that bad. I’m happy to be through it.”
