Northern Sports Centre To Re-Open for Public Use
Prince George, B.C. – The Northern Sport Centre will be open for public use this Friday.
The Sport Center has been closed for public and member access since July 10th as it was used as a group lodging site for evacuees fleeing the wildfires.
As most evacuees were allowed back to their communities, the small number remaining in Prince George were moved to hotels in the city.
The demobilization of the Northern Sport Centre started on August 10th, as crews removed the cots, plywood that covered the field house floor, and then did a thorough cleaning of the facility.
Most areas of the Sport Centre will be open to members with the exception of the gymnasium and the field house. Regular programming ans drop-in sessions will resume in September.
For the balance of August, the Sport Center will be open Monday to Friday from 5:30 am to 9pm, and from 8am to 7pm on weekends.
In September, the hours will be: Monday to Friday 5:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. and weekends from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Members can continue to get their refunds for July and August at the reception desk from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday to Friday.
Non-members can utilize the facility at the regular drop-in rate.
