Double Deal on Recovered Bikes
Prince George, B.C- Anyone looking to get a bicycle has an opportunity this Saturday to get a set of wheels with an added bonus.
Stolen bikes that have been recovered by Prince George RCMP and which were not registered or identifiable in order to return them to the rightful owner, will be up for auction at AiMHi on Kerry Street in Prince George.
Recovered bicycles which cannot be returned to the owners, are given to the folks at AiMHi where they are refurbished, and registered with the 529 Garage, a bicycle registration, reporting and recovery network. If a bike is registered with 529 Garage, if stolen and Police recover it, there is a very good chance that bike will be returned to the rightful owner.
“This is a fantastic boost to the Detachment’s bike theft prevention program” says Cpl. Craig Douglass, coordinator of the program in Prince George. “AiMHi is showing its commitment to this community, its clients and to bicycle owners. Having AiMHi as a partner means that more recovered bikes will be reunited with their owners.”
More than 200 bikes have been registered by AiMHi this year.
The bike sale is set for 11-4 on Saturday.
