Excellent Weekend for Timberwolves Soccer
Prince George, B.C. – The UNBC Timberwolves women’s and men’s soccer teams are having excellent starts to the Canada West season.
The women won both games on home turf to start the season with a 2 and 0 mark, tied for first place in the Canada West Pacific Division with MacEwan. Paige Payne and Madison Emmond scored a goal apiece and Madi Doyle made six saves Sunday as UNBC edged UBC Okanagan 2-1. That followed their 3-0 victory over Thompson Rivers Friday night.
The women host Mount Royal at 5:30 pm this Friday night and Alberta at 1:15 pm Sunday afternoon.
The UNBC men split a weekend doubleheader against the UVIC Vikings on the island, scoring a 2-0 victory Friday night before falling 2-1 on Saturday. The Timberwolves hold a 2-1-3 record and are in a three-way tie for second place in the Pacific with Trinity Western and TRU.
The men host Mount Royal at 8 pm Friday and battle Alberta at 11 am Sunday.
