Cariboo Regional District Updates Structure Loss List
Williams Lake, B.C. – The Cariboo Regional District says 60 homes and 167 other structures were lost to flames .
The updated total includes losses from the Plateau, Elephant Hill and Quesnel Lake fire.
The CRD says damage assessments have been nearly completed in the 12 areas of region, and the list is not likely to change much in the future.
The CRD has corrected local numbers to remove some added in error, and renamed ‘out buildings’ to ‘other structures.’ As well, some structure losses have been re-categorized from homes to other structures as more information was collected on the lost structures.
“With over one million hectares burning in the Cariboo, the work of all firefighters and emergency personnel resulted in low structure losses on many fronts,” says CRD Chair Al Richmond. “In particular, we were very fortunate there was only one structure lost in the Cariboo Regional District as a result of the Elephant Hill fire. As we move into recovery, we encourage the entire community to support those who lost property.”
