Prince George, B.C. - The town of Mackenzie received a brief reprieve today when Supreme Court Justice Donald Brenner extended the date until September 2nd for Pope and Talbot to find a new buyer.
At the same time Justice Brenner threw out the request from CANFOR to end the contract to supply chips to Pope & Talbot's mill in Mackenzie which is deemed to be important for a sale.
Price Waterhouse Coopers, the receivers , sought the ruling while they try and find a new buyer for the pulp mill.
Mackenzie’s Mayor Stephanie Killam says the residents are optimistic hoping this ruling will result in some of the jobs that were lost being reinstated.
