Explosives Stolen

Chetwynd, B.C. - In the interest of public safety and an attempt to gain more information, the Chetwynd RCMP is advising the public of a theft of explosives that occurred near Chetwynd sometime overnight between July 15th and July 16th, 2008. Sometime during that night, thieves broke open two locked magazines and made off with a number of Vibrogel Dynamite sticks and detonation caps from a remote wooded area near Chetwynd. Each dynamite stick is described as red with aplastic casing, 60 millimeters in length, weighing 2 kilograms and marked with Dyno VIBROGEL on the side. Further, each stick is attached to a 65 foot yellow cord. Adding to police concerns, these explosives may not be properly stored and transported. The Chetwynd RCMP are vigorously working with various partners and resources to locate the explosives and the person(s)responsible for the disappearance. Anyone who locates these explosives is asked to call 9-1-1 immediately. Anyone with information about this theft, is askedto contact your local detachment of the RCMP or call Crime Stoppers at (800)222-TIPS (8477). Information that leads toan arrest, may result in cash rewards.
