Williams Lake, B.C – Fire danger ratings in the region are climbing steadily, as warm temperatures and a lack of rain continue to dry out our forests.

Fire danger has stayed high for much of the area, and is into extreme for parts of the Chilcotin and 100 Mile House Forest Districts.

There have been fifteen new fires since Thursday, all of which are believed to be due to the lightning which came through the area last week. There is a possibility of more lightning in the centre later in the week.

Thanks to timely reporting by the public and patrols, fire crews have managed to quickly action the fires to keep them small. However, as temperatures stay high and humidity drops, fires could have the potential to become more difficult to contain. Some gusty winds are predicted for the centre throughout the week.
