According to police, they got a call about 8:45 last Thursday from a farmer who said there was a wreck in his field.
Police arrived on the scene to find a black, KIA SUV resting on its roof in a field about 5 km north of Dawson Creek. The 30 year old male driver of the KIA was taken to hospital where he is in critical condition, the 23 year old female passenger was pronounced dead at the scene.

Deer, fell asleep, not paying attention?

Thoughts go out to the families
Condolences to family, but, it is clear from what we are being told that there was excessive speed involved. Tragic.
metalman.
My sincere condolences to the family...but I am suprised we do not have more of these postings. When will people learn that just because the speedometer goes to 160 it doesn't mean you have to go that fast...now two families will suffer because of speed.
Who said they were going 160 km?
Metalman and IBCDNCHK

Who said excessive speed was the cause?
What was reported was, speed is "believed" to be a "contributing" factor.

Speed doesn't kill, Idiots that speed kill
I am sorry..I didn't mean to say they were going 160. I also didn't mean to say that excessive speed was the cause..I saw speed may have contributed and I thought back to the fatalities in my area in the last year due to people doing 140+ and losing control. I am sure though that if speed is believed to be a contributing factor...they weren't thinking they were going 50....
