Prince George, B.C. – Today would have been Terry Fox’s 50th birthday.   It was the perfect day to unveil the restored statue to Terry Fox.

The statue was vandalized last year, which sparked outcry from the community. A committee was struck and some members of the community stepped forward with major contributions.   Pine Centre mall, Spruceland Merchants, and Honda North each donated five thousand dollars to the cause.
The artist who had created the original statue, still had the mold,  and recast the statue, but there was also a need for landscaping.
This time, the statue was elevated by one meter, there are shrubs around it, and a light has been added. Doug Hofstede, the City’s Community Services coordinator, says they are also exploring the possibility of installing video cameras to keep an eye on the statue to ensure it does not suffer from vandalism again.

It's beautiful. A fitting tribute to this country's greatest citizen.
Hopefully vandals will have a little respect for the statue but some how I doubt it. No respect for others that have tried to help a worthy cause.
Terry who?
Yama who?
I don't understand what the comment "Terry who" is suppose to mean or how appropriate it really is. The work that was done to repair the statue is beautiful. From what I understand, Terry Fox suffered from a terrible disease and was passionate about making a differance. I believe the comment from Yama is rude and unnecessary.
Yama....you just lost all respect. Brutal, just brutal.
