I'm number 1...yahoo.
When the heck is this "global warming" "climate change" going to kick in? I'd sure like to get something from my tax dollars. Where the heck did summer go. I guess we had it last week for a couple of days.

I think you answered your question with your third sentence.
With all the nitter natter about global warming, carbon tax, high fuel prices etc...I was out shopping for a fuel efficient vehicle. I found one that I am happy with! I received superb service from Gustafson's Kia. Thanks Noel, Harry & William! I am very pleased I don't have to walk in today's downpour :)
On a positive note:

I don't have to water my garden today and all the rain reduces the fire risk in the bush. Enjoy the long weekend, everyone.
Opinion250 Readers: If you were a City Councilor, what would you do about the Chances Gaming Centre situation?
bohemian: Tell me the scoop and I'll make a guess.
Why in Alberta last week did the price at the pumps drop 10 cents a litre as soon as the price of crude dropped?
Lamb ... are you sure you are not a councillor already?

;-)
I am surprised that Albertans pay more than 20 cents per litre.
Interest in this forum seems to be steadily declining. People must have finally had enough of the same old same old.
Boy Canfor is one class act. Now that they are not rebuilding NCP they have sent letters stating that they no longer have to give the employees the 6 months of benefits they promised and they are cancelling them all at the end of Sept instead of Nov. 85 million dollars in insurance money and they cant even honor what they promised in june.
"Canfor City".

That kinda has a nice ring to it, don'tcha think ??

I just read an article in our Free Press about the people near the new subdivision proposed up the Hart. What a bunch of ninny whiners in this town. Both ends, too. Seems there is a concern about increased traffic there. Whoop De Doo!! I recollect going to a meeting about the Malaspina subdivision plans and most everyone there were getting their knickers in a twist about the increase traffic flow on Malaspina. Especially near the school. I surmised that the people against the proposal had the idea that they would be required to walk farther towards the greenbelt to let their wee doggies poop. If someone shot a cannon down that street now, I doubt it would ever hit anyone.
Let me see Death, long weekend starting today, summer time, holidays...
Naw.... I suppose everyone would want to stay at home so they can get in on the Friday Free for all.
It is reported today that the U.S. unemployment rate climbed to 5.7 percent in July, the highest in more than four years.

And ... GM has posted a US$15.5 billion Q2 loss ...

And Beijing air fails to clear for the olympics ... how am I ever going to be able to watch track and field on TV????

It looks like the sky is falling and we are living in a bubble .... :-)
long weekend???? I thought that most people on here had long weekends every weekend ....

;-)
I always thought this site was for cranky, retired coots, bored housewives & losers like me, poochin' at work. In other words, people who's whole life is one big, lonely long weekend.

j/k
But it's where great minds come together and debate....Where else can you box and not get a sore nose?
For those who value ther privacy and cross the border every now and then into the emerging and paranoid police state south of us, here is an interesting story about the next step.

For all those who ride Greyhound bus on occasion ...

Don't send kids to Kamloops that way to see grandparents anymore ....
"Where else can you box and not get a sore nose?"

well said ... :-)
See Owl.. Even some of us redNecks have a Zen side..:-)
There is a theory, getajob, that this kind of blog brings out the extremes of those on the right and those on the left just because of that very reason.

Sitting at a table together, the conversation is typically completely different.

Maybe that is part of the attraction.
Time for my REAL job... gettin' loaded!

Enjoy the weekend, guys.
Happy hangover oh lonely Death to Socialism.
I seen that OWL...and then the yanks wonder why we don't want anything to do with them...
Take my cell phone or computer ..
what is next wide open rectal exams in case I might be packing fertilizer???
Be a very long time before they get my business if they keep up these inane activities...
With all of the negative economic news hitting us lately, I am sure most people are feeling rather uneasy about their economic futures.

I think most people know (deep down inside) that the "boom times" we have been experiencing these last few decades have been solely as a result of our collective society piling on more and more debt.

A saying by the economist Ludwig von Mises comes to mind. "There is no means of avoiding the final collapse of a boom brought about by credit (debt) expansion. The alternative is only whether the crisis should come sooner as the result of a voluntary abandonment of further credit (debt) expansion, or later as a final and total catastrophe of the currency system involved."

According to Statistics Canada, the M3 money supply in Canada expanded by 14.0% over the last year. I think it is hard to argue against Ludwig von Mises point of view.

I would like to strongly recommend to all those in opinion250.com land who are considering going in debt to purchase something they do not absolutely have to have, that they should postpone their decsion to do so for one year, to see how the bursting of our current historic credit/debt bubble is playing out.

My guess is that the (debt fueled) party
we have been experiencing over the last few decades is over, and that the hangover(the deleveraging process) is about to begin.

I would also strongly recommend to those people who are considering going into debt to purchase something they do not absolutely have to have, to speak to someone who is really old (like in their 80's) and ask them what their opinion of piling on debt is, and also what their recollection is of the "great depression of the 1930's".
Let's have some fun:

This is a test to determine if anyone (no matter who) from City Hall visits Opinion250.

There are six (6) suspension jarring water filled potholes on Croft Road. It's a bus route and a street with a lot of traffic.

The potholes have been there for a month/ month and a half.

If they get patched in the next few days - someone from the City is reading this message.

If they don't get fixed it means either that no one from the City visits here or no one gives a hoot.

Cheers!
If you call the pothole hotline you may just be surprised at what happens.
Well said getajob...I appreciate a place where I can show my boxing skills...or lack thereof...and not get blood all over the floor! Have a great (and hopefully dry) weekend y'all!
"If you call the pothole hotline you may just be surprised at what happens."

I said let's have some fun! No cheating allowed with this test!
