July, More Rain Than Normal

Prince George, B.C.- Jim Steele from Environment Canada  has cmpleted his assessment of July, and it turns out it had more rrain than  is usually experienced.

Here is his full report:

July  2008:   The month got off to a blazing start with temperatures soaring into the upper twenties and low thirties, what turned out to be the warmest days of the month. Conditions cooled off significantly with the 7th of the month only seeing a maximum temperature of 16 degrees. Generally cool and unsettled conditions persisted until the 3rd week with a dry and warmer stretch between the 22nd and the 25th. This came to an end with a very cool wet pattern to round out the month with the last 5 days seeing precipitation each day. Thunderstorms seemed to rule the month with frequent flashing and rumbling on many more days than normal.
In the end, the month was purring along with slightly above normal temperatures and drier than normal conditions however the last week changed this considerably. The result was a normal month temperatures wise however precipitation came in above normal.

  • Average daily high of 21.8 was slightly below the normal of 22.1 degrees C.
  • Average daily low of 9.1 was slightly above the normal of 8.8 degrees C. 
  • Mean temperature of 15.5 was right on  the normal 15.5 degrees C.
  • Warmest Day on the 1st  with a maximum temperature of 31.4 degrees
  • Coolest day on the 22nd with an overnight minimum of 2.8 degrees
 Precipitation
  • Total precipitation of 77.5 mm was above the normal of 63.5 mm.  
  • Measurable precipitation on 17 days above the normal of 14 days
  • Greatest rainfall one day 12.0 mm on the 5th
