That was then ( August 4th 2007 ) and this is now, August 5th 2008.

Prince George, B.C.- It has now been a year since two CN trains collided on the east side of the Fraser River.

CN’s Kelli Svendsen says the railway has been working on restoring the site “We have been working on the plan that was approved by our regulators. This year we put in two wells, to catch anything that happens to be on the land and some cement stones so work could be done on the site.”

Svendsen says the wells are supposed to catch any material that may have leached into the soil. At the time of the crash the concern was about preventing diesel fuel from contaminating the soil or the river.

Rip rap  has been added to the site, "That is to mitigate any erosion because the vegetation is gone" says Svendsen.

A boom remains in place, and Svendsen says the site is still being monitored. She says landscaping work is also underway “I believe grass will be planted this year, and next year we will be planting trees in the area.”

CN says the crash was the result of human error.  No one was injured when the crash occurred on August 4th 2007. Since the crash, the railway was issued orders about the use of remote control of engines.

Why have a boom? I thought "Nothing went in the river." Wait, is that a picture of water on fire up there?
It is so water on fire!
Hmmm...
It is an illusion to trick those that believe a picture is worth a thousand words... Plus the smoke is really just dust blowing in the wind...;)
The fire is only on the surface so it's all good. The pollution all burned off.;)
