Prince George, B.C. – R.C.M.P have been kept busy with motor vehicle accidents today.

In addition to the fender bender that occurred in the picture above (details are unknown at this time) at approximately 1:30pm, a collision on the Hart Highway also backed up traffic at 4:00pm.

Witnesses saw an ATV drove across the Hart Highway east bound and was struck by a vehicle at Houghtail road driving south bound.

The 16 year old male drive of the ATV was taken to PGRH for injuries to his leg. He was wearing a helmet, which Police say more than likely was the reason he did not sustain further injuries.

Police have received numerous calls of complaints in relation to erratic, dangerous driving by ATVists along the highway, streets and residential areas. ATV’s continue to cross highways in order to get to trails in wooded areas which is a Motor Vehicle Act violation as they are not licensed to be on the street.

R.C.M.P. are aware most of the ATV’s are not insured and operators do not have a valid driver’s license. Police have been enforcing these violations and remind the public if caught they will tow uninsured ATV’s and issue fines for those without a license or driving without Due Care and Attention.

Stupid ATV'ers.
Ya you stupid heads. If your going to be an atv'er be a smart one.
OH, and to those that caused all the crashes today, remember if you had been paying attention to what you were doing when your crash occured it wouldn't have happened. It's all your fault, I hope you sleep well.

Unless of course there was some type of mechanical failure or some other problem that made it absolutely impossible for these crashes to be avoided, then I am sorry.
the stupidity of a few will ruin it for the rest
What they probably don't think about, is that they usually have no insurance on those ATV's. Now they are going to have to repay someone for the damage they caused to their vehicles. Or perhaps mom and dad will be repaying that.
The last two times I went onto Hwy. 97 from Queensway some dumb a$$ in front of me attempted a u-turn toward the BC industrial site. Today it was really close to a collision.

I think the signage for the Queensway closure due to bridge construction has been brutal. There are no proper detour signs pointing the way around (use of Upland street). Signs say the road is closed, which causes confusion. There should be a sign that says to follow detour markings, and then have them.
Just happy to hear that there were no serious injuries or deaths due to the crashes

You can't get the type of insurance required to operate an atv on city streets in PG unless it is for conducting business.
