Prince George, B.C. – R.C.M.P have been kept busy with motor vehicle accidents today.
In addition to the fender bender that occurred in the picture above (details are unknown at this time) at approximately 1:30pm, a collision on the Hart Highway also backed up traffic at 4:00pm.
Witnesses saw an ATV drove across the Hart Highway east bound and was struck by a vehicle at Houghtail road driving south bound.
The 16 year old male drive of the ATV was taken to PGRH for injuries to his leg. He was wearing a helmet, which Police say more than likely was the reason he did not sustain further injuries.
Police have received numerous calls of complaints in relation to erratic, dangerous driving by ATVists along the highway, streets and residential areas. ATV’s continue to cross highways in order to get to trails in wooded areas which is a Motor Vehicle Act violation as they are not licensed to be on the street.
R.C.M.P. are aware most of the ATV’s are not insured and operators do not have a valid driver’s license. Police have been enforcing these violations and remind the public if caught they will tow uninsured ATV’s and issue fines for those without a license or driving without Due Care and Attention.
