Terrace, B.C. – For the second time in a week, a helicopter has crashed near Terrace.

Around 11 this morning a chopper operated by Quantum Helicopters of Terrace, went down about 45 kms  northeast of Terrace. The pilot was alone when the Bell Longranger craft (similar to the one shown at right) went down. He is  being treated in hospital for undisclosed serious injuries.

Last Wednesday, four people died when the helicopter they were in crashed in the Kitsault river, 150 kms northeast of Prince Rupert.

The federal Transportation Safety Board is investigating both crashes.

I think this is the second Quantum crash in the past couple of years.
I flew in a helicopter 6-8 times a year for about 12 years.
I'll still take a chopper over a fixed wing anyday for comfort and reliability.
However...they really don't glide worth a damn!
Hope the pilot is ok.
