Prince George, B.C.- The B.C. Seniors Games are closing in, and the call for volunteers continues.
Chair of the 2008 BC Seniors Games, Les Waldie, says more than 800 people have already responded to the call for volunteers, but they need more.
“This is a huge event with 2750 participants coming to Prince George from all over the province to compete in 27 different events. We need about 400more volunteers to ensure the event is a success.” That participation is up 500 from the last time Prince George hosted the games.
In particular, there is a need for volunteers to help with the security, the banquet,  some of the sporting events, and to help with clean up at the venues.
The games are just three weeks away and Waldie says it’s the volunteers who are the key “It’s something we count on because we know the people of Prince George will be there for us.” Waldie  says it’s a very satisfying experience “You get such a sense of pride being involved in an event like this it gives a boost to community spirit and you have a chance to be up close and personal to exciting sport action and meet some of the province’s most active and enthusiastic seniors.”
The good thing about the BC Seniors Games?   You can guarantee there will be Canadians on all three levels of the medal podium!
Anyone looking to volunteer during the games (which run from September 10 -13th)  can do so by calling 250-564-2080 or by visiting the website at www.bcseniorsgamespg08.com
