Prince George, B.C.- As the heavens open and started to pour, Environment Canada has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for Prince George.

"There is a potential for severe thunderstorms with heavy downpours..Damaging winds..Intense lightning and large hail today.

This is an alert to the potential development of severe thunderstorms with large hail and damaging winds.

Monitor weather conditions..Listen for updated statements. If threatening weather approaches take immediate safety precautions.

An unstable and moist airmass over the British Columbia interior will give the potential for the development of severe thunderstorms today. Damaging winds..Large hail..Intense lightning and heavy downpours can be expected with the passage of these thunderstorms."
