It looked to me that they were putting ground based geothermal under the building. That would explain why the project is taking a long time to get out of the ground. Geothermal will save on untility costs.
Geothermal seems to be the wave of the future. I know the new Duchess Park school will have geothermal heating as well.
I wish they would stop putting the mud from, the site onto Queensway. There appears to be no enforcement to keep out streets clear off mud tracked from construction sites on the traveled road way.I guess its OK. Its our economy at work.

Cheers
Hey nothing but the best, especially when your spending the public's dough. I really hope the granite counter tops match the heated slate floors
AND NOW, FOR OUR FEATURE QUESTION OF THE YEAR;
Are all creeds and colours going to be welcome at this overpriced amenity studded platinum plated attraction? Or will there be "no room at the inn"?
metalman.
"Geothermal seems to be the wave of the future. I know the new Duchess Park school will have geothermal heating as well."
I wonder what out of town contractor they will hire to do that?
30 units fer $5.38 million? That's a lot of dough per unit. Quonset huts a couple of hundred miles north of nowhere would be better because it would get these homeless people out of the environment that makes them homeless. Give the homeless rakes and shovels and let them build a golf course next to their "homes". And the next bunch of homeless can continue the landscaping. That way the governments bleeding hearts can finally wise up to who are the people who are wise but lazy. All the support staff would have to commute. How long before that novelty would wear off? This is the best place on earth to live if you are irresponsible.
Free hydro, free cable, free garbage pick up? How about insurance? Any dept. gonna pick up the tab for fire insurance? How about taxes? $5.38 million dollar investment at the mercy of one loser who smokes in bed? Special parking stalls for the RCMP in front of and in back of this "shelter"? Any curfew for residents? No visitors after 11PM? Call the cops to enforce this? Each floor have it's particular homeless person pattern? Is there a lottery system fer picking the residents? Or is that done already? Preference fer local homeless? A floor for out of town but new here homeless? Old homeless on the first floor and young homeless on the third floor? All male homeless? Any female homeless in this building? If so, that in my opinion would lead to social interaction. Maybe even questionable. Kinda lonely being homeless. Might be nicer if they could create co-ed apartments. I'd pay for that! All one bedroom or studio suites for singles, but no suites fer homeless families? Gee whiz! Too many questions.
Each apartment have a two stall parking assignation for their shopping carts? Security patrolled hopefully.
Not politically correct to call the homeless, bums? How about tramps? Derelicts? Drifters? Hobos? Vagrants? Migrants? No more being a drug addict. Presto!! Now you are what they call a substance abuser! Mix all of these terms into one word and you have the word, "victim". Everyone is a victim. I love the English language so much! Especially in this day and age. So challenging and much nicer. Don't you think?
In this new building, if any individual "tenant " is caught doing a no no, will they be evicted? If they are evicted will they have any rights to call on the "Residential Tenancy Act?" As you know, in this country everyone has rights. Just ask any landlord in this town about the rights of tenants. Should be interesting as to whatever may happen. Seeing as how my tax dollars are being used will the operational/social side of this enterprise be available to the public for their scrutiny? It is called accountability. Some have it. Others don't. ergo. A.k.a. Homeless.
Wow, Harb, you said everything I wanted to, but didn't, for fear of being political-lee UN-correct.
metalman.
Methinks you can get away with being politically UNcorrect if you can word it properly. Kinda like porn on CBC. You can get away with murder on that subject if it is a documentary, used to enlighten people. Being politically correct takes away from my freedom of speech? Nah! I hopefully can word it so it doesn't. Kudos to my English teacher from high school.
What? No rebuttals? My kingdom fer a rebuttal!!!! Bring it on!!
