Prince George, B.C. –   Although BC150 has cancelled the Provincial Rivermania "Flotilla" for Sunday, various events are still occurring around Prince George.

The Rivermania flotilla was a BC150 celebration funded by the Provincial government which would carry boats of tourists and dignitaries from Prince George to Steveston.

David Greer, Communications Manager with the Ministry of Tourism says the event has been cancelled due to lack of ticket sales, “We marketed the event to European tourists. Tickets ranged from $60.00 to $1500.00 depending on the size of the package, however there were not enough sales to go ahead with the event.”  Greer said the ticket sales were "next to none"

Although $125,000 was set aside for the flotilla, Greer is uncertain how money was allocated to each community and where this money will now be spent. Depite the cancellation of the "Flotilla" portion of the Rivermania  celebration,  there are still celebrations  planned that  involve the Fraser River.

Huble Homestead will be providing activities and entertainment throughout the day.

Krystal Etter, Operations Manager for Huble Homestead says they are going ahead with the events they have planned for the past year. “We have mainly turned our event into a music festival but we also have a free pancake breakfast from 9:00am to 12:00pm and 7 people from the Prince George Paddling Club taking part in the boat launch."

Other activities that will be running all day include river jet boat safaris, guided tours, games and crafts for the kids and all day barbeque.

I loved going to Huble Farm with kids on their school field trips. Great history there.
