Ron Davis , Glen Doll, Alistair McInnis pedal to raise money for the  Cops for Cancer Tour de North

Prince George, B.C –Cops For Cancer Tour De North will be breaking a sweat at Costco over the next few days as they ride stationary bikes in shifts to help raise money for The Canadian Cancer Society.
 
Past and future riders will be on three stationary bikes for a total of 24 riding hours starting today from 11:30 to 7:30, and continue on September 1, 2, 3 and 4th.
 
Alistair McInnes is on for five and half hours out of the eight which is longer than  anyone else today.  He has been training  3-4 days a week  doing up to 100 kms per week.  He has a goal of 1500 dollars and he is very close  to that  amount but he is confident he will raise the  amount before the ride gets underway.
 
"This is the fourth year of the tour for me" says Ron Davis, "its a lot of work a lot of fun."
 
The public is encouraged to submit estimates of the kilometers covered by each bike in odometers. The closest guess will win a big screen TV.
 
Boston Pizza will also donate $1 from every pizza and pasta dish sold from September 1 to 4th.
 
The actual Cops For Cancer Tour will begin September 5 to 11 to help raise awareness and raise money for pediatric cancer research and society delivered services that help kids with cancer and their families. The 2008 goal is $250,000 which is a 25 percent increase from 2007.
 
The Tour will consist of 22 RCMP staff, a paramedic and a PG Free Press reporter. The tour will cycle 826 kilometers west on Highway 16, detour briefly to Fort St. James and end in Prince Rupert over a seven-day period.
