Kidnapping Charges in Ft. St. John

Ft. St. John, B.C.- Three males in Ft. St. John have been charged with Kidnapping, Assault with a Weapon, Assault Causing Bodily Harm and Extortion as a result of an investigation conducted by the Fort St. John RCMP.

The charges arose from an incident that began on August 25 just after 8 pm, at a local bar. The victim was surrounded and beaten by several males at the pub, then forced into a vehicle and taken to another location. While at this location the victim was assaulted with weapons and suffered significant injuries.

The Fort St. John RCMP were alerted and immediately responded. Upon arrival, they located the victim, who was then transported to the Fort St. John Hospital with non life threatening injuries. Two of the suspects were arrested at the scene, the third male was located the next day and arrested without incident.

The three accused appeared in Fort St. John Provincial Court yesterdayand have since been remanded until September 17, 2008.

Matthew Handley, Michael Telford and Eric Zetner,  are facing  charges of Extortion, Assault Causing Bodily Harm, Assault with a Weapon(x2) and Kidnapping. All of the accused were residing in Fort St. John at the time of their arrests.

The investigation into this incident is ongoing.

Well surprise, surprise, surprise...our little neck of the woods is growing by leaps and bounds and now we have the "big city crime" moving in. Everyone here is happy about the influx of money the oil patch has brought...but no one has stopped to think about "everything" this money will bring. We grow tenfold and this is the kinds of things that happen.
WWWOOOWWW" Those are some pretty serious charges. That should get those guys at least 30 days behind the cold steel bars if they are successful in making them stick.
