Prince George, B.C – The price of gas has been boosted at Petro Canada stations in the Prince George area. Gas that was selling for 136.9 a litre yesterday is now 138.9
Petro Canada was the first to make the 2 cent boost and it remains to be seen if other stations in Prince George will follow. Others were offering a litre of regular gas for 136.9
Meantime, the price of regular unleaded is cheaper west of Prince George.  Vanderhoof, Fraser Lake and Burns Lake stations are offering gas for 134.9

Of course the price is up...there is a long weekend coming!
But hey...she's all on the up and boys...you betcha!!
You know.....the big news in the States and acrosss the rest of Canada is the price of gas dropping for the past month. But not here in B.C. it stays the same price while people in Ontario, Alberta etc are paying ten cents per liter less. Here in Pr Geo, Kamloops and anywhere else in the interior, they are gouging us big time partly due to Campbell's B.S. carbon tax. They are egven raising prices before they even know how many people just may be driving this long weekend. They are just a bunch of crooks and we have been ripped off here in PG forever. MAD? YES! CROOKS? YES!
FARGIN ICEHOLES!!!!
Regular gas is 12 cents cheaper in Edmonton - PG stations are all in this together - the price is the same all over in PG at the same time -long weekend - let ripped the people off!! As for the carbon tax - it is going to pay for this famous pavilion at Bejing ($15 million)where the expected 400thousand+ were to showed up - but barely 10,000 visitors entered the door.
Let's see. Price of crude was about $145.00 per barrel a month ago. It has dropped to about $115.00 a barrel. Percentage wise this a 20% drop. Gas was at $1.46 and dropped to $1.37. Percentage drop 6%. Pretty obvious the oil companies and local service stations use a different calculator than us common folks do. While we were paying $1.37 per liter the people in Toronto were paying $1.23 per liter. Everyone knows the area surronding Toronto is littered with oil wells and consequently the low fuel price.

Boycott a few stations and force them out of business. This will result in more business for the remaining stations and should lower their per unit cost resulting in lower prices for the general public.

I don't know why everyone would not buy their gas from Superstore. Atleast there you get 5 cents for every liter purchased in the form of a coupon which can be spent in the store. Best deal in town.
I never by from Petro Canada.
I think it's owned by the Canadian government?
Why buy from the government?
They steal and rob you blind through taxes, that's bad enough.
You think incorrectly, HD.

According to Wikipedia:

"In 1990, the government announced its intention to privatize Petro-Canada and the first shares were sold on the open market in July 1991, at $13 each. The government began to slowly privatize the company, selling its majority control, but keeping a 19% stake in the company. No other shareholder is allowed to own more than 10%, however. Also foreigners cannot control more than 25% of the company.

During the first year, the value of the shares gradually dropped to $8 as Petro-Canada suffered a huge loss of $603 million, primarily because of the devaluation of some assets. The newly-private company significantly reduced the number of properties in which it had a direct interest. It reduced its annual operating costs by $300 million and it went from a staff of close to 11,000 to only about 5,000 employees. "
Didn't I tell you? Petro Canada (which by the way is not longer owned by Canada) is always the leader in increased gas prices.

DO NOT buy gas from Petro Canada!

Supply and demand. Plain and simple.

This time they may be too smart by far; I don't know of many people that are taking trips this weekend. Most of us plan to stay home.
Sigh, to some of you guys out there, forget about the carbon tax, it's got nothing to do with this. The carbon tax is 2.4 cents, how much has gas gone up in the past year? Two years?

If the government removed the carbon tax tomorrow, the gas companies would likely raise prices 2.4 cents the next day.

As for where I buy gas, Superstore or Canadian Tire are the best deals. There are some places in BC where you can get 7.5 cents per litre at Superstore.

Air Miles (Shell), Petro Points (Petro Canada) or Aeroplan Miles (Esso) give you nowhere near the 5 cents / litre you get back from Superstore or Canadian Tire.

I was in Fort St.James today and it was 132.9 so it doesn't make sense we pay this price in PG
Oil is 118 a barrel and were still paying 142 a barrel
.
LETS GET THE BOYCOOTT GOING TARGET ESSO FIRST AND SOMEONE WILL GET THE MESSAGE.
Gas prices have dropped 40 cents in the US,what makes us so special that were being gouged all to hell.

Ok then PETRO Canada boycott spread the word...
You're right on the money MR PG.

We should also have our pumps tested by Transport Canada. Anyone that has one of those gas distance things on their cars will notice that Super Store comes up short. I have gassed up in different stations in town (at one point including Petro Canada), Superstore is the worst. I like the lousy 5 cent rebate that I use in the store. My car here says I get 640 kms per litre on a full gas up at Super Store.

In our next door province it goes up to 870. Superstore on Vancouver Island gives 7 cents rebate.
What's with all this disparity?
DEMAND! We have supply. Lets choose.

Esso tomorrow. Petro Canada on Saturday.

Cut your comsumption and they just increase the prices anyway. Can't really win, unless you own shares in the oil companies and receive dividends and split the profits. Chester
It figures huh? Finally, Petro-Can gets it's gas supply back just in time to start the long weekend gouging.
I would gladly pay 5 cents MORE to not have to go near Superstore...
'I would gladly pay 5 cents MORE to not have to go near Superstore...'

That's your problem.
We are fortunate in BC and pay bfar lest than many regions for gas.

It is easy for people in PG to wine but combine gas with food , housing etc. and it is cheap to live in PG.

Western Canada is absolutley booming ....if you have problems with PG then move....there certainly is huge job options available. (or you could sit there and do nothing about it and whine)
I would like to know just how much the BC government is ripping us off with gas taxes. Not just the recent 2.4 cents per liter but the total provincial government take from a liter of gas
What are you talking about, leoleo!!
Traveled to the Island August 6-13. Left PG 136.9, with a half tank as it has to be cheaper going south. Quesnel 1.41.9, Clinton 1.40.9, across the Duffey to Squamish, 1.42.9, on the Island one station at Duncan 1.35.9, Victoria 1.42.9, elsewhere 1.40.9 Backtracked the same way, needless to say I arrived home low on fuel to refuel at 1.36.9, plus the 3 cents off on the liter log at Fast Gas.

Still though, the 83 Olds 98-305 V8 came through at $.125 per Km (close guess at tank difference leaving and arriving), not bad considering the lease payment.

What's with the comparatively cheap prices in the east? Has their demand dropped that much to trigger competitive pricing? Sure ain't their local oil production.
AND THERES MORE; Thanks to the greedy scumbags who decide this sort of thing, oil prices are set to rise because of tropical storm Gustav, and he has not become a huuricane yet, or even reached the gulf of mehico yet! In case there is going to be a hurricane, and in case there will be oil rigs or drilling platforms damaged in the gulf, they raise the price!
Doggone speculators!
metalman.
Betcha there is GST on our carbon tax. Betcha!
Simply stay home.
