Quesnel, B.C. - Today is Super Saturday in Quesnel!
Quesnel and District Leisure Services and the Quesnel Volunteer Citizen of the Year Committee have teamed up to present three events today that will encourage everyone to get active either as a participant or volunteer.
“In conjunction with the Volunteer Citizen of the Year Committee, we decided to hold all three events on the same day to encourage increased participation in the community at all levels – from the newest soccer players to our most experienced volunteers,” explained Diane Rogers, Recreation Manager. “When we increase activity and fitness levels and give back to the community, everyone benefits.”
There are three events today, the First is Central Registration, where you can sign up for a wide range of community programs & activities and get your Recreation pass in one convenient stop. This annual event has been relocated to the Arts & Recreation Centre.
The second event is the Volunteer Fair at West Park Mall, where you can learn about different volunteer organizations and choose one that can use your volunteer talents and energy.
Finally, if you're hoping to add more movement to your fall and winter, this is your opportunity to test drive a new sport or activity. Call it "Try It Out Day" a jam-packed event at West Fraser Timber Park and the local gyms. The "Try-athon" will include orientations to 20 different activities, including ultimate Frisbee, cricket, belly dancing, lawn bowling, tennis, orienteering, bird watching, golf fitness, exercise classes for all levels, gymnastics, and soccer. There are activities for everyone from three-year-olds and up, and supportive volunteers will share with you their passion for their game or activity.
All Super Saturday events are being held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Now why isn't someone in PG doing that for the arts in PG. Obviously it works, so what's with trying to load the city up with another building just for arts when we have so many great recreation buildings that the arts can use now?
