Who Says The Federal Government Dosen't Have A Carbon Tax In BC

Once you have had your accountant review your Terasen Gas bill you will notice that the last item refers to the GST that is being collected on the gas that you are using. Now I was always under the belief that the Carbon tax was a provincial tax and was,’Revenue neutral”.  You know the provincial government would be handing back every single dime that they collected in the carbon tax.

I was also  under the impression that the Federal government was not collecting money for a carbon tax in this country.

Well you would believe all that until you glance through your gas bill at which point you will discover that not only is the province dipping into your gas bill to collect 2.6% of your bill, the feds are also sticking their little hands into the pot to extract 5% in GST from you on the amount of the carbon tax that you pay.

Now it may not seem like a lot of money in the summer, but if you consider the amount of gas you will use this winter times 500,000 homes and then the amount of GST collected suddenly becomes substantial.

Let’s say your gas bill is $1,000 a year, so you pay $26.00 for carbon tax, and an additional $1.30 for GST, times 500,000 homes and suddenly the amount of GST collected from the people in BC becomes substantial.

But remember we have no federal government carbon tax… well at least we are told that. Now let’s undertake the same exercise for gasoline at the pumps, and suddenly it becomes yet more money that the Federal government is collecting from you.

Now if you look at all the homes in BC, it doesn’t take long before you realize that the federal government, the folks that aren’t involved in the carbon tax in BC are indeed up to their arm pits in the matter.

So when you hear all the talk when the election is announced later today, you will hear the Conservatives slamming the Liberals for their idea of a carbon tax, well folks you already have it in BC you just didn’t know it.

I’m Meisner and that’s one man’s opinion.

What will the Jay & Big Dick have to say about this story? I look forward to an explanation in Jay's next report from the Hill. LOL
Ever notice how eager the politicians in favour of 'carbon taxes' are to convince us that their new found way of financially penalizing us for fouling Mother Earth is going to somehow change the climate?

A climate, despite ANY of the effects of man on it, that is still entirely governed by NATURAL LAW.

Yet if anyone were to suggest that it might be entirely feasible to make some accounting adjustments to our 'money system' ~ something that is entirely a creation of MAN, and very definitely governed entirely by MAN MADE LAW ~ adjustments that not only would remove the added or pending further burden of 'carbon taxes', but most of the other taxes we already pay as well, such a suggestion would be treated as the ultimate sacriledge. As if "money" itself were an immutable construct, instead of something merely enabling us to facilitate production and consumption. It wouldn't even be considered. An "impossibility" those we elect would say.

Do they honestly believe that they can actually change the forces of NATURE through increasing taxation?

While at the same time believing they CAN'T do a thing about the MAN MADE forces the literal 'money-making' minority uses to impose its will on the majority? The effects of which will likely continue to cause ever more deleterious human made climatic detriments than any we've yet witnessed.
