AAAh one dog less. Great news.

Cheers
That is a terrible thing to say!
There a lot of strays, this is a symptom of people NOT getting their pets spayed or neutered. If you own a pet, be responsible for that pet and get him/her fixed and DO NOT allow them to wander around aimlessly! If you say you cannot afford to get them fixed then I guess you can't afford a pet! It's the cost of pet owning!
I am disgusted that Bridge made that first comment. And Robichal...although what you are saying, generally speaking,is true....you cannot say that this particular incident is a "symptom" of any of that!!! The dog could easily have been a family pet, which was licensed, fixed, had all its shots....and accidentally got loose from its yard. It happens. And if that is the case, then I feel badly for the person/family who have to deal with the death of their pet.
I'm with you northern-bc-girl!
If what shamrock girl says is the case, then it is still the owner's fault. Things like that should not happen if the dog was properly secured on the owner's property. A tragic mistake yes, but preventable none the less.
Preventable? Yes. And it would be wonderful if we lived in a perfect world ....where all our best efforts were foolproof. But we don't.....and tragic accidents happen. I agree that we should put responsibility squarely where it belongs....but that doesn't mean we can't and shouldn't have empathy.

Spaying and neutering are great if you are planning on letting your pets run free.
However I believe it's illegal to do so in PG and the responsible thing to do is to keep them under control at all times.
If you can't then you shouldn't be allowed to own pets.
Bridge - you beat me to that one. Too many mutts around, althought smacking them with a car is not a good idea. The dog might suffer and the car be damaged. People sure go over board about dogs though, and dogs aren't even that good to eat.

A rifle is man's best friend, and don't forget to lead the sight when they are on the run.
Bridge I am totally DISGUSTED by your comment. Now if it had been a CAT on the other hand....

Kidding of course, I hope it wasnt some poor kids pet.
If they cared about their animal it would have been safely at home.
Yes they get free, but as a conscientious pet owner, it would be your responsibility to ensure it doesn't happen. If they jump the fence make a taller one.....
Its no use BCRacer. Trying to suggest a commonsense solution to a problem is a very difficult thing for many people to wrap their brains around.
Now if you suggested we hire someone to study this higher fence concept then perhaps some might start to grasp the idea.
yes, sad isn't it......
wonder if they keep their children off the streets? somehow I doubt it...
Hi shamrock girl, I didn't say that the dog that was tragically hit was a stray. I hope it wasn't, and I feel horribly for the owners who lost their pet. I do understand that dogs get loose, but it is pretty much a proven fact that not getting your pet "fixed" is a problem for creating strays - I stand by that 100%.
And I agree with you 100%. Thx.........
