People don't know how good we had it until it's gone. Dan Rogers and company as councillors tried to block their share of projects and investments in PG. Wonder how bad it is going to be when Colin is gone and one of these other guys is going to be asked to be the risk taker?
And I wasn't refering to the little stuff like asking the asphalt plant to turn off their back up beepers when operating after dark while everyone is going flat out to push out the required pavement as fast as possible. Risking human lives to keep the Nechako River road happy while fretting over whether to let someone invest in PG certainly shows the council is more interested in the social umbrella than real world stuff like safety.
No council likes to eliminate investors if the council thinks the business might be risky, but squishing a few workers is not being risky.
Say that again Yama. I dont know what your are trying to tell us.

Frizzel, Gable sounds like more of what we already have and it isnt about a "social umbrella". Sounds more like gimmie gimmie tax dollars to fix the economy so there is more profit for the few.

cheers
Mr. Gable has talked about "downtown revitalization" for many years. If he runs vote for him so he may talk for many more years. Talk only costs about 20 thousand a year. That talk, times eight and a mayor is cheap. Right? Too bad potholes can't be filled with talk.
Potholes potholes potholes. I don't that is up to city council or the mayor to fix. The City has managers who are in charge of these departments, maybe we need to "clean house" at City Hall and not just councillors.

You have to give credit to the crews trying to stay on top of fixing these road issues.

City Hall needs to up the "Road Rehabilitation Reserve", roughly 3% of my taxes go into this reserve. Doesn't seem like enough money. Imagine all the potholes we could fix with all the "studies" we do? Oh wait, they would need to do a study on that I bet.

Department Managers should be an elected position.
That should be... I don't think that...
Remember the name Sam Turcotte. He will announce soon.
"wonder how bad it is going to be when Colin is gone"?? Are you kidding. I wish all those who have been sitting there for years would retire and let someone else have a go. And certainly the one or two who are completely in over their heads should admit it and get out. At least people like Frizzell and Gable want to see an improved downtown and have actual ideas to get there. When we actually start working on improving downtown and having some pride in our WHOLE city, it will benefit our community.
It is very easy and newsworthy when ribbons are cut and pictures taken of the grand opening of latest mega project sports and entertainment venue, in my opinion. The everyday nitty-gritty of pothole and crack repair just isn't as glamorous.

"Potholes potholes potholes. I don't that is up to city council or the mayor to fix."

No,of course not, but should they not be responsible for setting acceptable standards that must be achieved? There is the administration and there are the people (us, the taxpayers) and the council and the mayor are the connecting link. Who feels the pulse of the community? If the people are unhappy year after year with the results, who do they turn to? The city manager is not going to give personal audiences to those who want better infrastructure or service. The mayor's office staff takes note of the complaints, but that's about it. After that it is business as usual.

There are good things happening in this town as well, for sure. It could be worse, but it could and should be better.

Perhaps, with a complete change of the guard some fresh ideas about how to maintain and improve things will emerge.

Wouldn't that be nice?

Yes it would. Chester
ditto
After Mayor Outhouse was out, it sure din't take long fer Parkwood Place to rise from nothing. Maybe after you-know-who is gone, all our potholes will magically fill up. Could happen.
