Prime Minister Paul Martin has ordered  the Liberal Party to pay back to the public purse, $1.14 million dollars it received through the sponsorship scandal.

Martin makes the call in the wake of the release of the first of two reports from Justice John Gomery.

Martin has also referred the report to the RCMP for any and all appropriate actions.

He has added more  company names (12 more) to the list of  companies being sued by the Federal Government to recover  funds.

He has  called upon all departments to take disciplinary action against employees  involved in the scandal, and he has called upon the Liberal Party to ban 10 individuals from ever holding a party card membership again.  Jean Chretien is not one of the names on that banned party membership list.

Martin says the second report is due in three months, which will present  reforms for change to make sure this sort of thing doesn't happen again.

He has promised that within 30 days of receiving the final report, he will call a general election.
