Prince George, B.C.- Highway 16 will continue to be closed in both directions west of Bednesti near Lloyd Road until R.C.M.P are able to finish their investigation.

Sgt. Pat McTiernan of the North District Traffic Services Unit says the accident scene is from shoulder to shoulder, “We do not have a detour. At this point the road is not safe to drive on so we have stopped traffic, these things usually take about 4 to 6 hours.”

The driver of the car that crossed the centre line in the four vehicle accident has been confirmed dead. The name will not be released until next of kin are notified.

2 people were taken to PGRH with moderate but non-life threatening injuries, a spinal exam was completed as a precautionary measure.

2 others escaped with only minor injuries and have been treated and released.

McTiernan says  speed  and alcohol were not factors in this crash however,  toxicology will show if there were other elements  at play.

i know that the highway is open again....
Does anyone know what time the highway opened back up? We were caught in the construction zone just before the accident and ended up returning south after waiting forever in Prince.
