Quesnel, B.C.- Seniors are the focus of three driver workshops in Quesnel today.
Why?
According to stats, Seniors are more likely than other drivers (except the very young drivers) to be  involved in a crash. Research also shows the average distance seniors drive each year is increasing dramatically. Seniors are a rapidly growing segment of the population. There are more than 2.5 million licensed drivers in Canada who are over the age of 65.
Seniors are also over represented in serious injury crashes, are more likely than younger adults to be seriously injured or die in a crash and often take longer to recover from injuries suffered in a crash.
The three sessions today will see drivers reviewing their driving skills, gain information on the vehicles safety features, brush up on their  driving knowledge and make a plan of action to drive safely for as long as possible.
A second round of workshops has been set for October 16th and the third round will be held November 18th

Learning Drivers have an "L", new drivers have an "N" - I think Seniors should drive with an "S". That way they could be identified as high risk drivers...
Well sure... but why stop there at identifying drivers ??

"M" could be for moron.
"I" could be for idiot.
"F" could be for farmer.
"B" could be for bad.
"G" could be for good.......

The possibilities are not only endless... they are pretty much pointless... but certainly fun.

And while we are at it... how about painting the cel number on the back of every vehicle so that the following driver can call and give advice to the one in front ???

Peace :-)

Oh No! Who could of ever guessed???????????

(puts on flame suit)
Petty fan, are you serious?

How old are you? How about when you reach 65 and see how you feel about your driving skills! Would you like an 'S'. I agree perhaps over a certain age 70 & up you should maybe take a road test and a learners exam again. Not all seniors are high risk. My Father is 82 and is still an good and cautiou driver.
I liked the guy the other day driving up Peden with his exhaust dragging on the ground in a jacked up 4x4 zig zagging through traffic sporting dual N's on his tailgate.
It's amazing how many with L's and M's drive like idiots in this town.
M's, Lost? Hmm, I wonder what that one represents; Mother? no. Moody? maybe.
Madman? quite possibly. Oh, I know;
M stands for MORON, judging by the description of hisherit's driving.
metalman.

Starbright - based on the article seniors are high risk - just as those with an "N" are - not all "N"'s are bad drivers either but they still have to drive with an "N" on......
