Prince George, B.C. - By four p.m. yesterday Western Thermal, the contractors  who have the job of removing the remains of the Columbus Hotel, had already hauled about 7 bins of debris off to the Foothills Landfill.

(at right, a yellow debris bin waits to  be filled with  the twisted and burned remains of the hotel)

Western Thermal  will  work with  engineer Fergus Foley to ensure the  removal of the  east and west walls does not pose  a threat to the foundations of the Generator on the east, and the H and R Block  building on the west.   The foundation walls of the Columbus,  are shared by those two businesses.

Although hired by the City  of Prince George to ensure the job was done  as soon as  possible, the cost of the  demolition and removal will be passed on to the owner of the building.

"..7 bins of debris off to the Foothills Landfill.."

That's terrible. Why leave all this fire wood and consumables for the next generation to deal with. Bury it and leave it for the kids to deal with, ..that's terrible.

When you are old and waiting for someone to come and change your bedpan, will you be thinking about the rest of the crap you left for others to clean up?

Pile the rest of the building crap up and burn it is what I would do.
Hey Yama, thats a great idea, Can we use your back yard to burn it. I'm sure you don't mind it, hopefully your neighbors will be understanding too.
I never get u guys on here...some days u whine about the air quality and too much burning...other days u whine about hauling too much garbage to the dump...what else are we suposto do with it?
Mail it to China. They can make something from it and then sell it to us.
Interesting that the vibration of the machinery is not causing the so-called unstable walls to collapse.
or for some old hag to write a letter to the editor in the citizen. I remember reading one about the noise from the post pounder at the simon frazer bridge...Im sure months before she was whining about having to wait for 20 min in the midday traffic jams from having 1 bridge.
"Let It Be...Let It Be, Whisper words of wisdom, Let It Be" You guys are funny!
Not only is downtown not a great spot for a fire, but burning the debris from a building like that will produce a lot of pollutants we probably don't want in the air.
Lots of excuses to stick the mess on the next generation.

The smoke didn't hurt anything when the building was burning, so why not finish the job? The biggest reason for nasty byproducts is the incomplete combustion caused by the fire department pouring water on the fire.

Re-start the fire and install big fans to force in lots of air and get the fire really hot. That way there is no smoke and no nasty unstable compound by-products. Sure I don't have a problem burning the Bus in my backyard, so why not? It's the responsible thing to do and help out.
A weenie roast at Yama's place, I'll bring the wieners.
Blow the smoke towards Alberta. Let them deal with it.
