Prince George, BC- The Prince George Cougars have released 19-year old Forward Jordie Deagle, pending re-assignment.

Deagle was originally a 1’st round pick of the Medicine Hat Tigers in 2004. Acquired by the Cougars to start the 2006-2007 season, Deagle played in 139 games for the Cougars posting 13 goals and 22 assists.

Cougars General Manager Dallas Thompson commented. “The Cougars would like to thank Jordie for his time in Prince George; he was a quality individual who represented his team very well in the community. With the emergence of some our younger players it was important to allow them the chance to develop.”

Building for the future still?
So, to be washed up at the ripe old age of 19. The cougars have no idea how to handle players...they treat them like crap..just numbers....only the bottom line matters. Here is a kid who was a number 1 pick in 2004, he gets dealt to the cougars and devotes 2.5 yrs of his life to PG and the cougars and they dump him like yesterday's news. No wonder many players do not like playing in PG, there's no loyalty - it should work both ways...if this was to be his last yr then let him play it out and finish with his head held up high. I really hope he can hook up with another team and come back to kick Thompson's A**.
Like a few others have already done.
Yeah, the Cougars have made some questionable moves, but you can't question Deagle's dismal numbers while he was in PG. Either the WHL was a struggle for him or he didn't get along with management, whatever excuse you choose to use.

In any case, he wasn't very productive around here so why carry him? It's harsh, but such is the life of a semi-pro athlete.
