Prince George, B.C.- Don’t be surprised if you hear that Shari Green, the President of Downtown Prince George, runs for a seat on City Council.
Green is spearheading a rally in downtown Prince George this Saturday, called “Let’s Get Started”. The  noon hour rally at 3rd and George is supposed to spark positive action to clean up the downtown and as Green said on the Meisner program yesterday on 93.1 CFIS FM “Turn the downtown from a place of shame into a place of community pride.”
After talking with Ben Meisner on the program about the various guest speakers (including former Premier Mike Harcourt) she was asked if she plans to run for office. Green’s replied “I haven’t made up my mind yet.” Meisner responded with “I take that as an affirmative” Green did not respond.
The rally is taking place three days before the official nomination period for the November 15th municipal election starts.

Oh good.... just what you need.... someone who will grind a single blade axe with your tax dollars until there is no blade left ... a couple more years of studies.

Good luck to her.

V.

huh???someone to grind a single blade axe??? Ms Green is a business owner in the downtown unlike any of the current members of council. She will be passionate about the downtown issues and not just pay lipservice like the current members of council so frequently do.
RRrabbitt,
HUH? What we need on city council is a near complete changing of the guard. It takes a ton of guts to put yourself out there, and not many of us are up for the task. As a fellow business owner, I think we need at LEAST 1 business owner on council. There are very obviously other important issues to be addressed, but downtown needs to be more than a pre-election hot topic. Only to be swept under the rug AGAIN because there isn't a business owner sitting at the table every Monday night.
I would welcome Shari Green to consider a spot on council. New faces, new ideas, new vision will be very welcome. Accepting the position of President of Downtown Prince George confirms to me that she cares and also has a vested interest in changing & improving the downtown. I will support her.
Maybe a single blade of the axe, however it is one blade that is important to our town. Nothing has been done in years to improve downtown, maybe it is time to let someone have a kick at the can to fix er up
