Prince George, B.C. - An Air Quality Advisory has been issued for Prince George.
The Ministry of Environment, in collaboration with Northern Health, issued the Advisory due to high levels of fine particulate matter.
Based on the air quality data in the downtown and College Heights areas, the high levels are due to a mix of dust (coarser particles), and combustion emissions (smoke). A high pressure ridge has brought warm, dry conditions with calm winds resulting in pollutants accumulating in the air shed. The 24 hour PM10 rolling average was 52 µg/m3 at the Plaza 400 downtown site at 2:00 pm, 35 µg/m3 at BCR, and 21 µg/m3 at CollegeHeights this afternoon. The 24 hour PM2.5 rolling average was 18 µg/m3 at the Plaza 400 downtown and 10µg/m3 at CollegeHeights.
This Air Quality Advisory is expected to be in effect until further notice, with an update to be provided late tomorrow morning at 11:00am.
