Dawson Creek Man Faces String of Charges

Prince George, B.C.- A Dawson Creek man faces a string of charges following an incident in Ft.St.John that saw  police vehicles rammed, and officers firing shots. ( see previous story)

Major Crime investigators from Prince George  are  investigating the incident which saw Ft.St.John RCMP officer shoot a suspect.  

According to  the RCMP,officers had responded to a report of a vehicle that was stolen on Tuesday, north of Fort St. John. Several officers responded to this call and encountered the male driver who refused to stop, then rammed into and disabled one of the police vehicles. The two officers exited their vehicle however the driver drove directly at one of the officers. Sidearms were used to stop the driver from running over the officers. The driver then drove away. Several minutes later, he drove head-on into another police vehicle, disabling the stolen truck and the police vehicle.

Police on scene arrested the driver and immediately began first-aid treatment for the male suspect. The suspect was treated in hospital and has since been released into police custody.

earlier today, an Information was sworn charging Daniel Stephen CAMPBELL, 40 years of age, a resident of Dawson Creek on 7 Criminal Code charges.

The charges are as follows:

  • Attempted Murder Section 239(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Assault With a Weapon Section 267(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Flight from police Section 249.1(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Theft Over $5000 Section 334(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Dangerous Driving Section 249(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Impaired Driving Section 253(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Drive While Disqualified Section 359(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada

CAMPBELL has been remanded into custody until October 20th, 2008. The investigation is continuing.

days I presume... thats about how the justice system seems to work here abouts.....
Lock him up for 20 years. No questions asked. No trial, no bail, no more money or time wasted on trash like this. We don't care why he did what he did. He is a danger to others and himself and has no respect for the law.
A good lawyer on a good day can doctor those charges down to one. Mischief. Then double time served then the justice system might owe him. Could happen. Showing the judge remorse can go a long way also.
