A $5.26 million revitalization of GR Baker Memorial Hospital in Quesnel is moving forward smoothly. Construction is underway to turn the hospital’s now shelled-in third floor into an updated acute care unit to provide for the needs of Quesnel and area patients.

“I’m pleased to see crews making progress on this important project, which will provide an up-to-date care environment for patients in our city and the surrounding area,” said NH Board Member Dudley Leather.

The project will relocate all existing in-patient acute care services to the third floor of the building. These services include all medical and surgical beds, intensive care services, and maternity beds.

“The renovation of the hospital’s third floor is a very important project that we’re pleased to support, along with other key improvements such as the new CT scanner for Quesnel,” said Cariboo Chilcotin Regional Hospital District Vice-chair Mary Glassford. ”This project will have many benefits for patients and health care professionals in the North Cariboo.”

The project is expected to be completed arund June of next year.
