Initial evidence at the Speedway Road home pointed towards a murder suicide, however investigators needed to rule out a double homicide. Based on the scene and subsequent investigation, the BC Coroner's Service elected not to conduct autopsies on the two deceased, as both the nature of death and the identities of the deceased were known.

Members of the North District Major Crime Unit and the BC Coroner's Service have determined that this was in fact a homicide and suicide.

The names of the deceased will not be released at the request of the family.
