It is the season many arts and crafts enthusiasts have been waiting for -- the local shows and sales that, for many, signal the "Shopping Days 'til Christmas" countdown is on...

Northern B.C.'s largest juried art show is on at the Prince George Civic Centre.  Organizers are expecting more than 10-thousand people through the doors at the 29th annual Studio Fair.

Arts Coordinator, Angela Willis, says more than 75 artists and artisans are displaying their wares this year.

She says it's wonderful to see how much the show has grown.  "Within the last 10 years or so, it's actually doubled in size since we've come into the new facility here, the Civic Centre, we've actually grown with the facility.  It's double the space and we've filled it."

Willis says the Community Arts Council is very excited to still be going strong after 29 years and plans are in the works for the 30th anniversary next year.  "There are, but it's a bit of a secret," she says, "But we do intend to have a really big splash and make it the best show ever.

Studio Fair opens at 10am this morning and runs until 4pm.  As do a number of other sales on around the city today.

The 11th annual Craft Sale at P.G.S.S. continues, and, as this picture shows, the vendors were kept busy yesterday.

Also on the St. Mary's Craft Fair at 1088 Gillett Street, the craft and bake sale at the Eagles Hall on Dagg Road runs until three this afternoon, and Sacred Heart is also hosting a craft fair.
