I realize we're only a couple days since the election, but let's get these election signs down, every last one of them!
MY NAME IS ******** AND I SUFFER FROM ROAD RAGE AND NEED YOUR HELP!!! Either you suffer from the same stimulant or you are part of the problem.

it is only common courtesy for slower traffic to stay to the right and on the highway there are posted signs that say, slower traffic stay right. When you see the big truck behind you...wake up

If you were stuck at a turn and had been waiting would your appreciate it if someone had the respect to let you in....

Just move into the right lane and let traffic pass...THANK YOU!!!

and PS...any one who wants to complain about fast drivers 3 things

1. the profits from my speeding tickets come back to benefit the city.
2. our speed limits are too slow
3. you arent the police!!!
Wavoes suffers from tourette syndrom and blames it on road rage.
Yahoo somebody finally is complaining about the SLOWER TRAFFIC STAY RIGHT or KEEP RIGHT EXCEPT TO PASS!! this drives me crazy.. and its unsafe. We have been travelling alot lately thru Prince George to Jasper way for work not sight seeing. There are an abundance of passing lanes and do you think people will get out of the left lane?? noway.. you have people passing on the right just to keep the speed limit, what if dumbass decides to switch to the right lane?? who's at fault for that accident? some times it makes me so angry that there are speed traps thru this route but none are watching for those who don't follow the highway signs. Soon as alot of people end up dying as a result of these ignorant drivers is that when they will enforce driving against a highway sign?? There got my rant out feel much better....
I gotta laugh at wavoes. He complains about people not moving to the right, which I'll admit can be a problem. But then when it comes to speeding drivers he tells you to suck it up because wavoes thinks the limits are too slow and we aren't the police. Bravo.
Well I could agree with Mac and Wavey if it were not for the fact that I am the BEST driver in the world !!!

And, I have the trophies to prove that... I'll show them to you sometime... but I am real busy just now, getting ready for the world driving championships in Richmond BC on December 24th !!

:-)

BEN

Could you please post the address of where we can send you info. and things you need to know about.Maybe in the area of where you have the phone # for the Radio show.
So I pass by buddy on Ospika on my way home yesterday. After getting about 4 car lengths ahead of him I changed lanes and got in front of him and we were stopped at the red light. Buddy thinks the thing to do is pull up within a foot of my back bumper and start waving his hands in the air and pointing me out to his girlyfriend in his passeger seat.
I backed up 6 inches and there goes the horn a blasting. Back off jack, take some anger management classes or pull it over and be a man. What, did I drive on the same blacktop you had intentions of driving on? Don't like being behind someone? Were you always last all your life?
wavoes, nice rant! But if I (presumably a dumbass) am intentionally occupying the left lane because I am planning to exit soon to the left using the upcoming left exit lane you better not harass me by riding my bumper or giving me the outstretched left middle finger salute!

In fact these attempts at coercing and harrassment are against the law.

Having said that I do agree that some speed limits are far too low and should be increased so the government doesn't make every driver driving at a more reasonable speed into a criminal.

Life sure is tough if the biggest challenge in your day is someone driving the posted limit and holding you up. Find another outlet to your problems and stop risking other peoples lives.
Elite Transportation truck # 321 parking illegaly overnight in a residential area at the end of Domano.
City of PG has obviously not done what they have said they would do regarding this trucking company and their insistance on letting their driver park their truck illegaly in a residential area.

Whats it going to take City of PG Bylaw services? Do we all get together in council chambers and discuss your lack of bylaw enforcement in a public forum?

Get off your lazy butt's and do your job.
Heres a flash (pun intended) for all you speed demons, late leavers, and poor planners out there; when you pull up behind someone and you want them to move over, flash your lights, it is the courteous way imho to ask someone to move. DON"T ride my rear bumper, that just gets my back up, it is rude and dangerous, and I personally will probably just slow down to protest you following too close! You know, it could be that the slowpoke in front of you wants to get past someone else in before he or she pulls over to let you get on with your important journey. By the way, I like to drive a little faster than the posted limit, usually about 10 to 15 kms. over, but NOT in town! out on the highway! It is true that most urban roads can be travelled upon at much higher speeds than the posted limits, but it is not safe because there are other factors involved, traffic, side roads, just more people in general, so more opportunities for crashes, that is why a road like foothills blvd. has such a low posted limit. Get smart, drive at the speed limit or slower, in town. And RRRVrabbitt; we are ALL the best driver on the road.

If there were more people in this world that had a clue as to what common courtesy means or what it's like to think about someone else other than themselves then your post would be great.

Do you know how many times I have tried to get through traffic and have had some jerk that purposely closes off any opportunity for other traffic to pass?
You know the ones that speed up or slow down so you are stuck were you are.
Those people, and there are plenty of them, are one of the problems on our streets.

Think about others and make way is the simple solution.
I would simply like to express my sincere condolences to the McComb & Giese families.
Me to Shamrock girl, it's just so sad when people choose the lifestyle they did that got them killed.
Such a waste.
I wonder about the mentality behind doing some of the things some people have suggested (intentionally slowing down, backing up) to someone who is driving aggressively or in a road rage. Would they also go and poke an enraged grizzly bear just for kicks?

I agree that a little more common courtesy is required. One of the biggest problems I see is that people are oblivious to anything going on around them and don't see anything more than five feet away from their bumpers. Cell phone conversations while driving don't help either.
Perhaps you should heed your own advice on the anger mgmt. classes, lostfaith. Story makes it seem that you backed up just to cause a ruckus. Only thing worse than an overly aggressive driver is one who intentionally tried to aggravate one.

On the other hand some days when Im out there with all those hurryup drivers I have played the game you have just described, lostfaith. On this beautifull fall morning is that all we can come up with is driving habits.

It makes no difference how much you whine you will never be able to change the driving habits of others. So cheer up and when you catch up to the person at the traffic light and you will thats been trying to kill or maime themselves just lookover and smile you know his desire will come through sooner or later.

Cheers
I want to send my sincere condolences out to Dennis Montgomery's family. He was the fire chief in Mackenzie for years, before he was diagnosed with Cancer. He passed early last week, his funeral was held in Mackenzie on Tuesday. To all his family and friends, and those who served with him.
I usually use the right hand lane on a four lane highway and travel at the posted speed limit.

However, when I use the left hand lane with a definite purpose in mind (like intending the use of an upcoming exit lane) - no tailgating, flashing of lights or other shenanigans are going to move me out of that lane. It has happened to me before and it doesn't impress me.

Leave earlier or get the government to address your road rage by a) taking your driver's license away or b) building additional lanes - or both.

I see aggressive driving attitudes as just another symptom of the general illness of our degenerated society.

Now lets get to the good stuff. Harper has just given 25 billion to the banks for bad debt. This is what we should be chewing on. Why would a government spend tax dollars on such a brainless event. We are shoring up abunch of fools that cant control their debt load. And it starts with the 30 thouand car sitting in the driveway of a 500 thousand dollar home all bought on credit. These are modest figures there are others that involve even greater debt.

When you look at it its like those crazy drivers out on the street rushing for their death. In this case it was the banks that just coudnt resist the looming profits to be made.

Wouldnt it make more sence to use the 25 billion for secondary industry that would provide jobs and social security.. There are a number of countries that restricts the amount of profit that is allowed to cross its borders. Profits have to be reinvested in producing tangibles.

Wouldnt it make more sence to lend the money too entrepeneurs to develope secondary industry.

Cheers
Travism, why wouldn't you just get in the right lane and let the faster drivers go by instead of trying to analyze a persons need to drive faster than you. I live west of town and often wonder if anyone understands the slower to the right rule. It makes it easier on everyone. Drive in the right lane pass in the left. Easy ,simple, safe. Oh yeah...the light flashing thing is a great idea , tried it. people just glare like you're doing something wrong.

Use your signal lights, keep right except to pass, if you are holding up a line of traffic (5 cars or more) your breaking the law, so pull over and let em by.
The trucks on the bypass should only be allowed in the right hand lane, so we are not all held up by the snail's drag race between two chip trucks.
Simple traffic flow rules.

LMAO, I wasn't the one that was angry rambleon. In fact I had a smile on my face while watching buddies tantrum in my mirror.

Part of the current problem we are facing in the financial world is that people had access to credit when there is no way in the world that they should have been given loans, huge mortgages, etc.

So how then is the solution to the problem, one of making more credit available? Without a MAJOR change in lending practises (i.e. mandated standards as to who can qualify for loans, etc.) will we not just be in the same boat 2 to 3 years from now, except of course for the fact that the mess will be bigger?

I could see it working IF there were the afromentioned changes made to the lending systems so that the granting of credit was much more heavily regulated. As it stands right now, it has the feel of the folks that need to do consolidation loans every 1-2 years because they didn't change their spending habits after the first one. Without a change in spending (lending in this example) behaviour, it eventually it catches up with them and something has to give . . .
Ske,

I do usually. Same as diplomat says, If I want to turn left I am going in to the left hand lane. Usually I will change at least a kilometer before the actual turn so that I don't have to fight at the last minute becuase I need to use someone elses lane. I don't try to analyze other people when driving. Frankly, I don't give a damn, if I need the left hand lane, I have just as much or a right to it as you do so back off.
Will you take a look at yourselves in the mirror. Heatedly discussing your perfect driving habits.....Last time I checked having a licence was a privelege, not a right.......

Are you all under 20 years of age.....??
It can be very annoying when inconsiderate drivers impede our progress. Please consider this, though.

A car is a very heavy object. It takes a lot of force to get it going and to stop it. You may well be justified in being annoyed about someone else's driving, but are you willing to die for it? Are you willing to kill for it? Are you willing to spend years in prison for it?

If not, just relax, be late, put up with it. Heart attacks and car crashes will delay you even more.

Go home and have a drink instead.
Travism...Do you ever wonder why they keep putting those damn Keep right except to pass or slower traffic keep right signs up? I was just saying it all goes smoother if you let the quicker drivers pass on the left. I'm not the fastest driver out there, nor do I care. Its just a good rule to follow or you can carry on with I have every right to that lane attitude and wonder why people keep waving at you with one finger.
I think part of the problem is that many drivers see the insides of their cars as anonymous cocoons that they can feel free to behave in any way they want without recourse.

For many people, driving is a way to blow off steam, whether you're the tailgater or the guy in the front who 'smiles' then slams on his brakes -- in both cases you're being aggressive.
I wholeheartedly agree with the Bridge post about the 25 billion dollar banks bail out!

http://www.zeitgeistmovie.com/

Anybody who has some time may decide to watch the movie on the above link.

It is an eye opener about debt, credit, the Federal Reserve creation, etc. Running time is 2 hours 3 minutes.

Bang On. The big problem is most PG druivers dont really know what its like to drive in heavy traffic. I Have said this before it takes 15 minutes from Foothills ti Harold Moffats store si whats the big hurry and all the whining about. Try driving from Burnette avenue to the Portman Bridge on #1 at 5:00 pm or,going to work from Suurey to New West or Burnaby in the morning. You people would have a cornory.

Even in the Lower Mainland there are a lot of not so smart drivers. From Portman to Vancouver they have a lane forthose who have more then one person in the vehicle. The name escapes me at the moment. But we had the oppertunity to use the it last summer. And guess what we were the only vehicle in the lane for many kms. Beside us they were bumper to bumper just creeping along.

There was traffic congestions on #1 when we lived there in the 70's. Seems not a great deal has changed over the years.

So, PG isnt the only place that has people with bad driving habits. So Whine away with the economy in the dumper your wish will soon come through. You will have four lanes all to youtselves.

Cheers
Does anyone know why the Esso stations in this town are consistantly higher in their fuel prices. Propane and diesel are considerably higher at most times and gas is usually first to rise and last to decrease. Just wondering that's all
I wil shut up after this post but I had to tell NMG we are on the same wavelength. Unfortunatley there are others that arent. And there is the problem.

People are more concerned about the driving habits of other even if the economy is going to hell. They dont seem to realize in our democratic society we must participate in those who govern us or we shall be governed by those worse then ourselves. (Plato)

Cheers
Anyone know what they're making on the south side of 16 west, between Ferry & the casino?
Re: Free Crack Pipes...

I fail to see how this bandaid solution is going to help anything.
I made a personal choice a long time ago and decided not to do drugs. Many of the people who are now addicted were presented with the same question, but made the choice to start taking drugs.

Why are we so eager to support those who have made the choice to go down that road?

People need to be held accontable for their actions. If you choose to take drugs, there are so many negative circumstances that can occur they cannot all be listed. There needs to be some sort of help for people before they make that choice.
It seems to me that we are trying to take some of the bad things out of the equation(In this case give them pipes to help reduce diseases) and I cannot help but wonder why?
I have seen the effects of what can happen first hand as I have some family members who are addicted to crack. I certainly would not wish that lifestyle upon anyone, but these are people who made their own decisions.

As far as I am concerned, it all comes down to accountability and respect. Nobody wants to be accountable for their actions anymore. And the level of respect in society seems to have declined greatly. People in general seem to have less respect for others, and for themselves. It should not be up to the general public to cater to those who have decided to harm themselves.
If we do decide to take action, there needs to be a better solution than handing out pipes to help them stay clean during their nasty habits.

Something has to change!! We need to figure out why these people do this to themselves in the first place, and how to stop it. Nobody grows up saying I want to be a druggie on the streets when I grow up. Somewhere along the way, something happens to make a person want to start smoking crack.
We need to stop this problem at the source, not after the fact. I agree that people should not be exposed to the high percentages of disease that are associated with these types of drugs. But they put themselves in that position.
We need to help people avoid it in the first place.

Anyhow that is my rant on this topic.

Dan.
death to socialism...

they are building a berm and trail along that stretch of hwy 16 from ferry to casino.
dan I agree with the majority of your post!
It seems to me handing out the needles and pipes is short sighted. Where is the follow through? The individuals should be registered, monitored and in a program with the health facilities. We need to take a hard line. Get them off the street so the suppliers haven't got a consumer base.
Use the mental health act perhaps. They are harming themselves right? Are they also not endangering others by their behaviors? Is there not a danger to our health as well by the raw sewage and used needles and pipes left behind after the fact? Should not the ones handing out the needles & pipes be held responsible for the biohazard? I think so.
This is a societal problem. Not just a downtown problem. Not just a street problem. All of these persons are someone's family member. So, as soon as that member discovers the addiction and dangerous behavior that person needs to act! Turn them in. Get on the horn to your MP to get some teeth in the law so the RCMP can DO something. Ministry of Children and Families does intervention. Why should this be any different?
A health nurse, mental health worker and a social worker should oversee the cases. They should also bring all of the other hard working societies alongside. This means increased funding for them! Give organizations such as Phoenix the funds to open new houses and continued expansion of their programs. Their programs are successful.
Gang members could also be "rescued" by this program. It isn't rocket science. It just requires a little foresight and commitment.
Skeezix:

It doesn't matter to me that Esso is higher priced or takes longer to lower their prices...I'll just go somewhere else then!

Problem solved!
I buy my propane at Super Save on Victoria. It is 64. sumthing. Esso and Mohawk want 77. sumthin. What a town, eh?
Re: PG Drivers

To everyone who constantly complains about P.G. drivers, I suggest you get out more and do some driving in Latin America and South America. You will appreciate driving in P.G. and find it quite boring.
For anyone who truly cares about youth and gangs here is a link to more info and a hotline number:

I said I was going to shut up after my last post But I cant resist to comment on the news that a new hospital is being built in Ft St John by a partnership for profit dreamt up by Gordo.

We are all worried about driving habits on free for all. Your heads need a sound kick to get your brains into gear. There is not a single comment on this project. Here is another partnership for profit that is just going to the wind. For generations we have had healthcare as a public service provided by our tax dollars.

We hear this bragadosio of the surplus in the provincial budget yet we need a private partner for profit to provide us with health care. Shame on you Gordo. hurry May 2009.

Cheers
Well it's about time someone said something about this new partnership for profit FSJ hospital they are building.
I was begining to think all anyone cared about was bad drivers in this town.

Whatever bridge, who cares if no one comments on a subject here.
Kick yourself in the head.

Oh and I am driving to the LML in the morning anyone wanna race?
Can anyone explain to me why a union has advertising on opinion250? Are they selling memberships to the public? looking for new recruits? or just plain wasting their members money!?!?!

Just a thought
About three weeks ago I was approched by an aggressive panhandler sitting outside a nice Restaraunt at Parkwood Mall. He was young, healthy and well dressed . I told him I had just put in a hard days work and he should get a job. Well he became angry and came after me , lucky my car was close by. I told the management of the Restaraunt what happened and she said he was banging on the window telling the people inside that he hoped they would choke on their food. Mall Security said he had gone after a lady with a small child . I phoned the Citizen so they would warn people , nothing was printed. My question is why is Prince George promoting Homelessness. It's bad enough we are bringing them in from all over Canada now it looks like we are trying to bring them in from the U.S.A. I do not agree with eight million dollar Homeless shelters when we don't even have a cancer clinic. This election has got to be about more than Homelessness. I am sick of hearing about it when half the so called homeless are not even from Prince George. I think people are feeding off of the Homeless. It's called job creatiion and job promotion. I commend the volunteers who help them but these so called Homeless must also try to help themselves. This City has got to stop putting all the problems in one area. How about the next new shelter going in College Heights?

The following link will take you to "a must watch" video (from ABC News) on tire safety:

Bitter
I thought my opinion 250 handle, (Lostfaith) was a descriptive one. Wow.
I won't allow a shelter in my neighbourhood.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Yup seeing we don't live in a democratic country.
Who do these union people think they are? They don't really think they have any right to advertise, do they?
I think the government should deploy death squads to exterminate these union people that think they can do these sort of things.

We shouldn't put up with it any longer.

Hey Wavoe's you wanna head up one of those death squads, you have the right pattern of thought to do a great job in that position.

My goodness man get some councilling.

Bye the way you wouldn't happen to be sporting one of those little black moustaches and wear knee high leather boot's, Do you?
Lostfaith , Its your turn all the Citys problems can't be in one area, thats not fair. I am sure you will agree with me this election has to be about more than Homelessness.TO the Union bashers I wish I was in one maybe I would be able to look forward to a pension.
Unions promote unions....what they stand for...and why they feel they are beneficial. Nothing wrong with that?
I'm a mom so I watched The Bee Movie with my kids....probably 100 times or so and Barry Benson (whatever Seinfeld's characters name is) said it best when out free flying around through the big city amongst the humans, "Wow the stress level out here is outrageous!" Something like that.

:)
Hey bitter. A candle attracts moths. Snuff the candle and the moths go away. Not to die but just go away. Too many do gooders falling all over themselves helping the homeless here. A full stomach, a bit of panhandling, sell some drugs, new socks from some nice person and maybe sleep indoors once in a while. No worries. No cares. You do remember the story of the ant and the grasshopper doncha? Ask yer kids.Maybe if PG promoted Victoria ( where Gordo hangs out) as the best place on earth to be homeless, maybe he (Gordo) might do something instead of off loading the costs of the homeless to other small towns.
Wow we just can't allow those unions to advertise. While we're at it let's ban the Chamber of Commerce and political parties from advertising also. I find it very ironic that a lot of financial institutions are advertising to help people with their finances. It was them who caused the recession in the first place. They get bailed out by the government and then offer to help me manage my hard earned money? Get real guys.
Those people who block traffic, I call them "Regulators". One person in the right hand lane driving just under the speed limit. Another one just 1 1/2 vehicle length ahead in the left lane, driving the same speed. Both of them oblivious to who is travelling behind them. They don't have a clue. Really, they aren't purposely trying to keep you from getting home ahead of them. They are just enjoying the drive home, listening to the radio and reflecting on their day, or dreaming about what is for supper when they get home. Don't take it personal. Don't let them upset your normally calm, peaceful mood. Take a deep breath and just think "Regulator" and laugh to yourself. That is how I cope.
Rufftimes nailed it - most "regulators" have no idea they are doing it.
btw- it is only "keep right" if it is posted as such - the Hart hwy and any other road that has left hand turns is NOT.
Lostfaith, here is the issue with your style of driving that some find annoying.
I am driving along say Ospika and notice a couple of hundred yards up the light is red.I also notice that the Ospika left turn signal is in progress. So , if I time my speed correctly I will approach the intersecton at 30 to 40 km/hr and begin accelerating from that speed through the open lane. That is if some Ass does'nt race past me , get in the lane I am in than come to a stop at the red light. Now what I am doing instead is accelerating from 0 km/hr or there abouts because you are in a hurry to wait.
So, who taught some of you to drive? Your
Daddy? One bad driver teaching their offspring more bad habits. Some of today's comments about driving have been ridiculous. Sheesh, some of you need to get a life. Driving around P.G. is nothing compared to say, Calgary. It's the Indy 500 over there. I don't know why some of you think that the roads in town have a slow lane and a fast lane. No such thing. I think a few of you need to retake your driver's test and relearn the rules of the road.
Harbinger Do you think any councilors click on to this site? cause you summed it up and we are sitting back and letting it happen.
.

Who is that blocking my way... come'on I can't see anything.... lol

.
Thanks Charles and that reminds me. I have one as well....

What Went Wrong, Washington Post (How we got in the financial mess in the first place.) Probably the only good article I've ever read from that paper. I highly recommend the read for anyone that wants to understand the financial mess.
