Prince George, B.C.- The bombings of two gas lines in the Dawson Creek area this past week have Provincial MLA Blair Lekstrom very concerned.  Speaking on the Meisner program on 93.1 CFIS this morning, Lekstrom said if those responsible are opposing the gas and oil industry this is the wrong way to go about it  “This is a very serious offence, people’s lives are at risk. Our biggest issue is safety, people who work in the area, its hunting season, people are hiking with their families.”
Lekstrom says the RCMP will find the persons responsible for the bombings “ This is obviously a great concern for the people east of Dawson Creek. I know the police are working diligently, trying to find out who is responsible.”

The RCMP have called in the terrorism experts to assist in this investigation although police are not saying the two bombings are acts of terrorism.

A local newspaper had received a letter threatening EnCana, the company that owns the lines, advising that if the company failed to pull out of the region there would be consequences. The stated deadline passed, and the first line was bombed.   Another section of line was discovered damaged yesterday morning.
In both incidents, explosives were used.

“This person is obviously not all that stable to be dealing with this type of thing, we will get to the bottom of this and find the person or people responsible”, says Lekstrom

In the meantime, pipeline workers are being warned to keep their eyes open and if they see anyone or anything that seems out of place, to take notes and contact police.
