Prince George-Peace River Member of Parliament Jay Hill is speaking out against the bombings that have resulted in two explosions in the past week on the EnCana gas pipeline near Dawson Creek, B.C.
“These are despicable actions and I look forward to the capture and prosecution of the individuals responsible.” said Hill. “There is no excuse for public protest to include acts of violence. It is simply not tolerated by our society.”
Hill added, “I witnessed first-hand when I worked in the oil and gas industry, the devastation and destruction that can be caused when a gas pipeline ruptures and I am angered that these perpetrators have endangered the lives of my constituents.”
The long-time MP for the area also pointed out that EnCana has proven to be an exemplary corporate citizen in the region. The company has invested in local sports, aboriginal programs, culture and environmental activities, including the EnCana Events Centre in Dawson Creek, Project Porchlight, Northern Lights College and the North East Aboriginal Skills and Employment Partnership.
Hill concluded, “I will be working with local authorities to ensure all resources necessary are available to apprehend those responsible as quickly as possible.”
