Dawson Creek, BC- The Integrated National Security Enforcement Team (INSET)and the Explosive Disposal Unit are continuing their investigation into the recent pipeline explosions in the Dawson creek area.
RCMP say there are a few points that need clarification. INSET is a national security team responsible for criminal investigations involving national security matters. The reason INSET is now taking the lead in this investigation is because these attacks were directed at Canada's critical infrastructure.
Numerous police resources are involved in this investigation. They are the Explosive Disposal Unit's National Post Blast Team, the Forensic Identification Section, member of the Police Dog Service, INSET, members of the Dawson Creek Detachment and members of the North District General Investigation Section. Investigators are also in close contact with RCMP members from Alberta as well as from across the country.
There will be a town hall meeting at 7:00 PM tonight to address the community. It is being led by S/Sgt Stephen Grant, Detachment Commander of the Dawson Creek RCMP detachment.
Two of the sour gas pipelines operated by EnCana were the subject of sabotage this week. Although no one was hurt, Police are very concerned for the safety of workers, hunters and those who are using the area for recreational purposes. Police ask that everyone be extra careful and keep their eyes open for anything or anyone which appears out of place.
