Prince George, B.C.-  RCMP are continuing their investigation into the death of a 27 year old Salmon Valley man who died of gunshot wounds just before 11pm. October17th in the

5600 block of Salmon Valley Rd.

A 54 year old Salmon Valley resident has been taken into custody in connection with his death. It is believed that the two were related.

The shooting took place at the former site of the Salmon Valley Music festival grounds. There are two homes located on the property along with a stage and bleachers left over from

the days when the Salmon Valley festival was held on the site.

Police have had the area blocked off since the shooting took place. Neighbours say that several shots were heard from the property. One neighbour says that several of the young

people that were in one of the homes came to his house looking for assistance.

Another neighbour told Opinion250 news that there always have been a lot of new trucks and fancy cars being driven by young people travelling down the road.

Police have not announced why the road into the property continues to be blocked off.

The Salmon Valley Festival was held on the grounds of the shooting from 1992 until 1996 when creditors were left holding the bag for thousands of dollars in concessions sales,

dues to the Salmon Valley Community Association and at least $40,000 dollars owing to several radio stations from Alberta to Terrace.

At its peak the Festival attracted top show names like Alabama to play the festival and attracted thousands of people from Western Canada.

Eagleone, I also believe that Prince George needs a huge annual gathering. Why not out in Willow River area, and see if Tom Cochrane (Red Rider) will open up the show, like he did in '78.

I think if it is well managed and run like a real business and with proper accounting practice, it should be a money maker. The problem is, there is an awful lot of money being handled in a very short time. Thus, you need to have a lot of safeguards in place, to stop the temptations.

The first few years will not make you too much, but after that, it should turn into a revenue drawer for the community. Realistically it should be with in a hour from Prince George, thus people will be willing to travel into town, or people will buy day tickets.

Two ways to get it too work, rent out a farm, or buy a farm. Go for it.

Sorry to say but dont you think that is a little bit irrelevant to what the article is about and very disrespectful!

This article is regarding the death of a 27 year old man.
Please have a small amount of respect for the family,
the festival hasnt run for over 12 years and has no place in this article in the first place. Seriously!!!!
12345 I had a post removed outlining the history of the man accused. He has a past history and the festival is relevant in that past history. The festival was a huge loss to the city of PG primarily because of that mans actions in the past (very relevant to this situation because of his similar history)... and I had added my thoughts on a new festival in a different location which brought the response. The guy is very unstable and you are not the first person frustrated by his ability to explain things away as an 'accident' or 'self defense'. If you want to isolate the situation to just this one incident then he will likely walk... again.
