Prince George, B.C.- There is good news on the fuel situation in Mc Bride.
Husky says it will have fuel service at its Husky station in McBride Tuesday morning at 9.
Graham White of Husky Corporate Communications says staff from Prince George will be heading to McBride to make sure there is gas and diesel fuel available “The retail portion won’t be ready for a few days, but there will be fuel.”
The Chevron station in McBride is shutting down, (midnight Monday night)and the Husky station is going through a management change. “It is unfortunate the two are taking place at the same time” says White, “usually a change in management is a seamless transition.” The Husky staff from Prince George will look after the Husky pumps in McBride until the new manager is ready to operate the station solo.
The changes were leaving eastbound motorists with few options as the next gas station is in Dunster (but there is no diesel at that station), then Valemount, and then Jasper.

This might be a good opportunity for an independent to come in and make some money without the high overhead of a franchise.
I agree.
should be money some where just got back from edmonton where gas prices are 97.9/liter compared to here at 1.129
The independant operators don't make much of anything on gas sales, it's the store where the profit is made.

Unfortunately, the 'Pay before you Pump' rule is spelling the end of these small operators and it's almost impossible to make a buck. Very few people go into a gas station convenience store any more.
