Harmony Air won't be  booking flights to Honolulu or Mexico  out of Prince George, at least not this year.

The Chief Executive Officer of Harmony Airways, Gary Collins, says "We have run some numbers on trying to originate flights out of Prince George to Honolulu, Mexico and Palm Springs and it is a little tougher market than Kelowna and Calgary" where the company is now offering non stop flights.

Collins says "We have no domestic plans out of Prince Goegre at the present because our efforts are being concentrated in the larger centers of the US and Canada first. We will take another look at Prince George next year, but right now it’s not in the cards."

Collins says Harmony Airways is able to offer non stop flights to US markets out of Abbotsford and Vancouver because "We can clear US Customs in both of those centers."

Meantime Manager and co-owner of Uniglobe Travel, Sue Armstrong ,says Air Transat holidays is doing very well in this region. Flights into Mexico begin on Dec 20th and depart Prince George every Tuesday.

With a schedule that leaves Prince at 9:30 a.m. and gets into Puerto Vallarta at 4:50 local time , and a return flight that leaves Mexico at 4:50 in the afternoon and arrives in PG at 9:15 a couple of days have been eliminated from a holiday travel.

Armstrong says, “I think it is going to work, I’m very positive and these flights will set the stage for other tour operators. West Jet is the operator of the flights which originate in Ft. McMurray and then stop in Prince George making the Prince George to Mexico link a direct flight"

Armstrong concluded that with a package that starts at $1269.00 for one week all inclusive, "Prince George has finally been able to break the barrier that other centers enjoy for winter travel."

Its just to bad they don't start till Dec. being that this is the busy time of the year for most of Prince Georges citizens.I think they only run till March which is just before the loggers get off the winter logging season. These guys/girls would be a good group for these flights to bad they will miss them.
