Council Takes a Night Cap...

Prince George City Council tabled a recommendation from Administration last night for a later meeting dealing with the matter of selling liquor at the multi- plex and other City operated venues. One of the recommendations called upon Council to adopt a policy to permit alcohol sales in the concourse and the standing room areas of CN Place (Multi Plex).

In another recommendation, Administration also seeks to have the consumption of alcohol in a limited number of seats in ball parks and the CN center for non- hockey games. The matter hit the floor of the Council Chambers shortly before 10 pm and the majority of Council members said it should not be discussed at such a late time.

The matter of alcohol being served at the old Multi Plex has been a very contentious issue with many city residents. It has been before Council (and defeated) on at least two previous occasions.

how many remember your mother saying no to something you wanted? how many remember the number of times you had to ask before she said yes. sounds like the same childish game that children play. to the members of city council, you have made the correct decision, have the wisdom to be and remain a leader.
This should not even be an issue. Every WHL rink in the entire league has alchohol sales. Why should a few lame old dogooders deprive the city as well as entertainment events from potential revenue. And don't try and tell me alchohol ruins good family fun. Most families have an alchoholic in them already anyways.
I am baffled how this city can justify not having alcohol at the CN Center. Every other team in the league has it...don't you think they have thought it through? Have there been any incidents or problems? Possibly city council has decided it still has leway to push tax payers and the don't need to go this route just yet. This decision is a no brainer....make it happen and reap the benefits. Also think of the side benefit...fans wouldn't be AS disgusted with the play of the team that can't win and the organization that won't do squat about it. Making a stand on this topic is a smoke screen for city council to draw the attention away from them not doing their jobs with REAL issues around the city. Hmmmm....take long enough to get a sponsor for the Multiplex? Can we all say years of lost revenue? Please!
