I cannot believe that we are wasting more money on this issue, two million to waste on berm building again and now a sub drain system. does nobody understand that that area is all gravel and water will flow underneath the berms and the elevated road. What a !@#$%^ joke!!!
We should be using two million to extract the gravels at the confluence. I guess we are not smart enough because the majority of us do not have fancy letters behind our names on paper, ie. P.Eng.
'an agreement will be signed between the City and IDL that will ensure the works are compleed within the $2 million dollar budget.'

Is that like the agreement signed between the City and IDL ensuring that the Cameron Street Bridge will be 'completed no later than December 31st of 2008'?
I've heard through the "grapevine" that an extension has been given until Oct 2009, only because they lost 6weeks to environmental concerns. 6 weeks lost = 10 months extension seems fair, not. But i would still like to know if there was a penalty clause in the contract. As a tax payer I would like some sort of compensation back to our city.

apparently, one engineering firm in town, did not want to be involved in the project because this could turn out to be a two million dollar disaster with taxpayers money. That should tell us there is no feasible way this work will help, just like the hot water piping, what a waste of our dollars.
Hey Common Sense, you forgot one thing;
a PEng from VANCOUVER! These types of decisions from our learless feeders are so typically Reactive. Something bad has to happen for anything to get done, and even then they dither and ask for expert opinions. Since when did common sense become so uncommon anyway? How about a work bee? anybody want to organize one to remove the gravel from the junction of the Fraser and the Nechako? A bucket brigade to pass the gravel would get the job done quicker than waiting for all the political stars to align. Gum boots, spades, one gallon galvanized buckets, and about five hundred people ought to do it!
metalman.
The road to the University wound up costing $18 million bucks. That makes me ready for anything these city hall provincial and engineering ninnies throw at me.
