Prince George, B.C.-  "Eagles in the City" has taken flight in Prince George.
This morning, the B.C. Lions Society unveiled three of the painted sculptures at the Civic Centres. Five more are in the process of being painted.
Each piece of art will be on display   in the City and in 2010, they will be offered up for auction. All proceeds go to the B.C. Lions  Society.
The sculptures are the third endeavour in the Lions Soc iety’s triology of public art projects, The first featured Orcas, the second ( and the first for Prince George) was the Bears, and now the eagles.
The Lions are hopeful  of  having 15 to 20 sponsored Eagles in the city. Anyone  interested in sponsoring  one can fine more information at www.eaglesinthecity.com

I have to say that I prefer the Eagles to the Spirit Bears. The eagles are pretty colorful.
Very nice I think. They look free with an inquiring eye to the ground. They might even keep away the rats and rodents not yet accustomed to the art? Who knows how many other uses they could be used for... I know when I saw those spirit bears in the past I had to sometimes think quickly drop and play dead, look big and not very scared, or run for my life... same decision around every block.... as far as I know though with eagles is that they are our friend that looks out for us, thus completely different decision process... ;)
Who knows how many other uses they could be used for...

Would target practice be one of those uses.

Cheers
When the Spirit Bears were up about town, I seen 2 sets of tourists walking around with a map, trying to find them all and get their photos taken with them.

They are definitely a draw and I hope they will be well promoted.

Perhaps the Lions Club should look at a contest - with prizes for getting your photo taken with the most Eagles.
There beautiful, but I sure hope they don't end up on the streets. They will get ruined. I hope they end up in window displays or stay in the Civic Center. I would hate for them to be trashed.
I kept expecting the bear by the Scotiabank to hit me up for smokes.
