Prince George, B.C. - Macleans  Magazine has released its annual University rankings, and UNBC is listed as number two among  19 small, Canadian universites (which Maclean's calls "primarily undergraduate" universities). Mt. Allison placed first.

This is the highest ranking UNBC has achieved,  moving up from 4th spot in last year's ranking.

As in other years and in other surveys, UNBC performs very well in categories that measure students and faculty quality, class size, library growth, and research. In fact, UNBC placed first for "total research," reinforcing the results in the "research university of the year" analysis that was printed in the National Post last week.

In addition to the objective data that Maclean's gathers from the various universities, Maclean's uses student and reputational surveys to assess perceptions of university quality. UNBC was tops in BC for faculty-student interaction and overall educational experience for students on the verge of graduating. In the reputational survey, UNBC was were again identified as a "leader of tomorrow."

The Maclean's survey rounds out a series of annual reviews of universities, covering student satisfaction (Globe and Mail), research (National post), and overall quality (Maclean's). UNBC reached its  best result ever in Maclean's and the National Post and debuted in the Globe at A-, second in BC.

Our "gem on the hill" UNBC is creeping up. We have a great resource there and I wonder if we appreciate it enough? I have been following the candidates' platforms and have only seen one that is enthused about working with UNBC.

I could be corrected on that and am open to criticism.
Good job to the guys and gals up at UNBC, in a few more years we will become #1. Get those research money. Become #1.
Probably a good point Lamb. I know it is there but really haven't made much of an effort to check it out. I am sure there is lots more there than i know about. Maybe I think it is just for the younger folks and I am probably wrong. One day.....
Hey Racer, it is not just for younger folks! They have free tuition for those over 65 and the young folks like the "olders". Check it out, it your University too!
Well not over 65 ....yet...feel it sometimes...would fit into the olders classification though...
Thanks for the info Lamb...
I am away from PG, been down in Vancouver and now Victoria and the people in the restaurants, on the street and at the airport have all heard of UNBC and how good it is. Lots of people from lower mainland looking to send their kids there over UBC that seems to be out of control expansion and lost the focus of students being the important part.
WOOHOO congratulations UNBC and what a great boost for our little city!!!

WE ROCK!!

Hmmm, you mean that we could actually draw people into the community (along with their money) for something other than the processing of lumber? What a radical notion :)
